BJP going to win both seats from Jammu: Raina

Jammu, Apr 20: J&K BJP president Raviner Raina, Saturday claimed that BJP was all set to win both seats from Jammu region, however, in Kashmir, it would soon decide names of “candidates from patriotic parties” to whom the party would extend its support.

Addressing a press conference here, Raina said that the party had announced to contest from all three seats of Kashmir yet later aiming at another crucial objective decided otherwise.

“Our main objective, however, remained same as specified by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his recent Jammu rally, that we should not allow Congress, National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), responsible for death and destruction in Kashmir, to wrest power again. Giving precedence to a crucial aim over the party’s personal growth, the BJP has decided to extend its support to patriotic parties in Kashmir,” Raina said, in response to a related question.

“Soon, the party president in consultation with other senior leaders will take a call as to whom the party (parties) would support in Kashmir. Party will, then, go full throttle to ensure victory of those candidates on Anantnag-Rajouri, Srinagar and Baramulla seats,” he said.

Raina also expressed gratitude to people for the massive turn-out in the Kathua-Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency and stated the party would win the Jammu-Reasi parliamentary seat with a record margin.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, former minister Sat Sharma, former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia and office secretary Tilak Raj Gupta were also present on the occasion.

“We express gratitude to all the voters for voting massively on April 19 for the Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Parliamentary constituency. The people in all districts voted in massive numbers despite bad weather on the poll day. Such a massive polling in the harsh weather proves the commitment of the voters, who polled more than 70 percent votes,” he said.

“People have voted massively in the favour of BJP and the party is leading in all these areas. BJP activists have dedicatedly worked for this enthusiastic response and have left no stone unturned and the party is equally thankful to the people and the ground workers. The BJP is set to get massive votes in the upcoming polling in the Jammu-Reasi Parliamentary constituency on April 26 from all the areas, whether rural or urban. There is a massive wave in favour of BJP and the party will score a record victory margin in this parliamentary constituency,” Raina said.

He said that the BJP gained a massive organizational base in Jammu as well as Kashmir with all the development initiatives by the Modi government.
