Youngsters shine, qualify for knockout stage
U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy
Srinagar, Dec 25: JK Under-19 qualified for the knockout stage of the Three-day Under-19 Cooch Behar cricket trophy, defeating Haryana by five wickets at Lahli on Tuesday.
Needing 144 run to win match in second inning, JK achieved target for the loss of only five wickets. S P Khajuria played match winning unbeaten knock of 93 runs for JK.
Earlier in its first inning, Haryana were bundled out for 109 runs. Umar Nazir was star bowler for the JK by taking four wickets in that inning. In reply, JK scored 182 runs in its first inning getting lead of 80 runs. In its second inning, Haryana scored 217 runs. S U Yadav was highest scorer for them with 90 runs while as Umar Nazir took magnificent eight wickets haul for JK.
With this win JK qualified for the knockout stage of the event with one game still to be played. JK has so far played four matches in the event in which it has emerged victorious in three while drew one. JK will play their last match of the group against Railways at Rajkot on December 29.
Meanwhile JKCA has hailed team for its brilliant performance and has hoped that team will continue their superb performance in remaining matches.
