Solar plant inaugurated at Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Feb 9: Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir Friday inaugurated a solar power plant and laid foundation of Tourist Information Center at world famous tourist resort Gulmarg.
The 400 KVA solar plant has been installed at a cost of Rs 5.30 crore. 90 per cent funding to the project has been provided by the Union Ministry for Energy and Renewable.
The Tourist Information Center would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh and will have all modern facilities for the tourists.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that ensuring enhanced facilities to the tourists is the endeavour of the government, for which, several programmes are being implemented, an official statement said.
The Minister, according to the statement, underscored the need for time-bound completion of all ongoing projects taken up to upgrade the infrastructure facilities at various spots for convenience of visiting tourists.
He directed the officers to make sure that all necessary arrangements are put in place before ensuing of spring season to avoid any inconvenience to the visitors who throng the state in large number from within and outside the country.
He instructed the Chief Executive Officers of Development Authorities to launch vigorous sanitation campaign in the tourist spots under their jurisdictions.
