Reverting back SKIMS management

Jammu, Feb 10: A group of Congress ministers in the state were contemplating to oppose the government move to revert land, management and assets of the prestigious Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar to the Sher-i-Kashmir National Medical Institute Trust.
The matter was one of the agenda of the cabinet meeting, which was earlier schedule to be held here on Monday afternoon.
Reliable sources in Congress camp said that some of the party ministers would meet soon to discuss the matter and “prepare a strategy to oppose the Government move”.
“Congress was part of the previous government when the decision to transfer the land, management and all assets of the institute to the state was taken. We can not go against our decision”, one of the Congress minister, on the condition of anonymity, told Greater Kashmir on Sunday.
He confirmed that a meeting of Congress ministers would be held soon to take a decision with regard to the party stand over the issue.
Pertinently the government was contemplating to cancel a cabinet decision taken in 2003 by the then government headed by Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. The Trustees had fought a long battle against the government decision. The High Court had, however, refused to quash the cabinet decision, forcing the trustees to move the Supreme Court, where the matter was said to be sub-judice.
