Raja Muzaffar Bhat resigns from PDP
Srinagar, Feb 10: Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat on Sunday said that he has decided to resign from Peoples Democratic Party and return to activism.
“I have decided to resign from mainstream politics in the backdrop Afzal Guru’s hanging,” Dr Bhat told Greater Kashmir over phone on Sunday evening. He said that there is no space for democratic institutions to flourish. “Tomorrow morning I would meet PDP president and hand over my resignation,” he added.
He said he had lost faith in democracy. “Guru was not given a chance to defend himself. He was buried in jail and his family was kept in dark,” he said and added this is injustice.
He said he would return to activism. “I will start campaign against the hanging and life sentences,” he said.
