Guru role model for Kashmiri youth: DeM
Srinagar, Feb 12: Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi has paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Afzal Guru, describing him as a role model for Kashmiri youth.
“Afzal Guru preferred gallows to bowing before the tyranny,” said Aasiay in a statement today, adding that “he was a mujahid in real sense who chose only two ways: either martyrdom or victory. He lived an enviable life and his martyrdom would be written in golden letters in the annals of Kashmir history.”
“Although the execution of Afzal Guru is great collective grief and sorrow for whole Kashmiri nation, it was very much expected from government of India,” Aasiya said, alleging that government of India was looking for the opportunity to hang Afzal Guru and when it got the opportunity it lost no time in doing the task.
Condemning the imposition of curfew in Kashmir, Aasiya said, “The government is not allowing the people in Kashmir to shed tears on the martyrdom of their benefactors and they are forced to stay indoors by imposing upon them strict curfew restrictions. Even Shaheed Guru’s family was not allowed to see him before sending him to gallows. The height of injustice is that his family members were not informed about it.”
Aasiya said the pro-freedom leadership has to unite in their demand seeking return of mortal remains of Afzal Guru from Tihar Jail, New Delhi, to Valley.
