PDD realizes Rs 685 crore in 2012

Vikar warns strict action against non performers, attaches AEE

Jammu, Feb 12: Power Development Department (PDD) on Tuesday informed the Minister of State for Power Viqar Rasool that department has realized an amount of Rs 685 crore as revenue from the consumers for the current year up to January 2013, an official spokesman said.
 He said the MOS Power chaired a high level meeting of the PDD officials here. Viqar said that strict action would be taken against the officials found of not completing their targets.
 While taking cognizance of low realization of revenue and extensive damage of the transformers in the Hirarnagar area, the Minister ordered attachment of AEE, Hiranagar.
 Vikar called for close coordination among different wings of the department, so that the various developmental programmes initiated by the department are completed within the stipulated time frame. He said that the close monitoring of power projects and stations is also essential to ensure that the people get adequate supply of power.
 The Minister also directed the officers to ensure that the consumer registration is expedited so that all the illegal connections are regularized and the revenue realization is increased and the consumers get the requisite rationalized supply of power.
 He said that strict action would be initiated against the officers who are found not achieving their given targets. Regular inspections should be conducted for controlling power theft and pilferage and also monitor the damage to the transformers of different areas, he added.
