Jammu, Feb 13: Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) has allotted six micro hydel power projects with a cumulative capacity of 9.95 MW under Independent Power Producers (IPP) mode.
 The six projects have been taken up under the first phase among the 68 identified projects across the state for which the JAKEDA, department of Science and Technology, has already prepared the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), an official statement said.
 Among the proposed projects being taken up immediately, two are in Jammu region and four in Kashmir region.
 The department has also distributed 56769 Solar Home Lights among the people of 244 villages and 15 hamlets of 16 districts of the State under Remote Village Electrification Programme (RVE).
 This information, according to the statement, was given today at a meeting convened to review the functioning of JAKEDA, with the Minister of State for Science and Technology Feroz Ahmad Khan in chair.
 Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the JAKEDA to gear up their field functionaries and conduct survey of the areas which have not been covered as yet under various schemes of MNRE. 
 He called for preparing of Detailed Project Reports and submitting them to the concerned quarters for early approval.
 He stressed for distribution of solar systems to the serving households and   proper maintenance after installation.
 Feroz also asked the concerned to ensure the functioning of all service centres established in districts and training to the beneficiaries for the up keep of the installed Solar Energy systems.
 The Minister directed the JAKEDA to work with utmost dedication and meet the fixed targets in a time bound manner. He said any lapse in this pursuit would not be tolerated.
 The Minister directed the JAKEDA to distribute remaining 823 Solar Lanterns among the Gujjar and Bakerwals by March 15.
 The meeting also was held on hydro energy, solar home systems for general category, solar power plants, solar cookers, smokeless chulhas and portable biomass cook stoves, bio gas plants, solar water heating system, wind energy and construction of office building.
 Detailed deliberations were also held on Solar Lanterns for Gujjar and Bakerwals. As many as 15,150 Solar Lanterns for 73 remote Gujjar and Bakerwal basties stand sanctioned by the Ministry of New Renewable Energy (MNRE) at a project cost of Rs.5.30 crore with central financial assistance of Rs.4.55 crore, the meeting was informed and added that 1997 number of systems were distributed against the target of 2820 in Rajouri district under the scheme.     
 Earlier, Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA Dr. P. R. Dhar and Executive Engineer Subanji Koul briefed the Minister about the activities of the Agency.
 Among others, District Officer of JAKEDA from Jammu division attended the meeting.
