J&K International Rafting Cup from February 22
Doda, Feb 14: To explore the adventure sports potential of the Chenab region, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department is organizing the Jammu and Kashmir International Rafting Cup 2013 from 22nd of February to 28th of February 2013 from Thathri to Pul Doda on Chenab River.
In view of this forth coming event District Development Commissioner Doda convened a meeting of District and Sectoral Officers and reviewed the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Anil Koul, CPO Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan, SSP Doda Arif Rishu, SDM Bhaderwah Dr. R.K Bharti, Nodal Officer of event AD Tourism Pahalgam Srinagar Tariq Hussain besides Executive Officer Municipality Doda, Thathri, Army Officers and other District and Sectoral Officers attended the meeting.
During the meeting it was revealed that the championship will start from Thathri and culminate at Pul Doda and 11 teams are scheduled to take part in the Championship.
Various arrangements were discussed in the meeting which include boarding and lodging of teams and their stay, Security arrangements, Deployment of Chenab Rescue teams (Divers) at the venue, Maintenance of normal water level during the event, Deployment of Medical teams and ambulances, Regulation of Traffic, besides various other arrangements were discussed in the meeting.
DDC impressed upon the officers to put in place all the arrangements well in time for the smooth and enthusiastic conduct of this International event in the District and asked the officers to work in coordinated manner to make the event successful.
He said that this event will go a long way in promoting tourism potential of the District and also prove a milestone in development of the District.
