Dr Sayeed passes away
Srinagar, Feb 1: Noted medico Prof (Dr) Muhammad Sayeed, former Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, passed away on Friday, a day after his arrival from Delhi where he was admitted in a hospital some time ago with Pancreatitis symptoms.
He taught Physiology at GMC Srinagar for a long time and retired as its Principal nearly two decades ago. He did his MBBS from SMS Medical College Jaipur.
A suave and soft spoken person, Dr Sayeed (78) was popular in social and academic circles. He traveled continents more so post retirement. He is survived by his wife Dr Marianne Sayeed, noted Gynaecologist, former HoD, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, GMC Srinagar, son Dr Faisal and two daughters Dr Salma Iftikhar, Zarina Babur, son-in-laws Dr Iftikhar Kullo, Muhammad Babur and daughter-in-law Aerum..
His death has been widely mourned. A large number of people participated in the Jinazah prayers following which the body was laid to rest at the Mazar adjoining, Masjid-e-Ibrahim, Ibrahim Colony, Hyderpora By Pass Chowk on the Srinagar-Airport Road.
According to the family sources, congregational Faateh Khawaani will be held on February 4, 2013 at 10.30 am at the Mazar.
The deceased was maternal uncle of Javaid Malik senior editor Greater Kashmir.
