Government Press employees strike work

Srinagar, Feb 4: Govt Press employees went on 2-day strike on Monday to protest against the proposed shifting of their office to Sempora, Pampore from here.
President of the Government Press Employees’ Association president Syed Muhammad Muzamil Rezvi said the proposed shifting of the department won’t serve any purpose. “It would add to the miseries of people as they will have to travel 14 to 15 kilometers to reach it. In all the states the Government Press is located in the heart of the city and very closer to State Civil Secretariats/Legislative Assemblies, State High Courts and all other leading State Departments,” he claimed, criticizing the certain groups of bureaucracy who, according to him, are hell-bent in releasing the hefty amount for the proposed shifting only for their personal benefits. “Shifting would ultimately lead to the closure of press,” he said.
Rezvi urged the Chief Minister to intervene and address the genuine concerns of employees.
