Radio Kashmir honours Prof Ghulam Nabi Firaq
Srinagar, Feb 6: Radio Kashmir Srinagar today honoured veteran Kashmiri poet, critic and writer Prof. Ghulam Nabi Firaq at a function held at Nowshehra here.
In a statement a spokesman of Radio Kashmir said the function was attended by a number of Kashmiri poets, writers, artists and prominent people from all walks of life.
On the occasion, Deputy Director General Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Bashir Aarif performed Dastarbandi of Prof. Firaq.
Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Dr. Rattan Lal Talashi presented two papers on Prof. Firaq’s life and literary contribution. Prof. Shaad Ramzan, Dr. Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Qayoom Wadera, Director Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar and Satish Vimal also spoke about Prof. Firaq’s contribution at length.
On the occasion three new books of Prof. Firaq were released which included a Vatsun a book on the Journey of Kashmiri Poetic Genre, a Natia Collection and a Marsiya book.
Famed singer Farooq Ahmad Ganai and party entertained the audience by musical rendering of Prof. Firaq’s lyrics. Satish Vimal anchored the show.
