Disaster management training begins at SMC office
Srinagar, Feb 7: A five day training programme on first aid, fire fighting and rescue operations started on Thursday at the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) central office here at Karan Nagar.
In a statement SMC’s Media Officer said the programme was chaired by Joint Commissioner (Adm) SMC Fayaz Ahmed Balla. A team of four members from Civil Defence imparted training on the safety and necessary measures to be adopted in times of crisis like fire fighting and providing of first aid treatments.
On the occasion, Balla stressed on the need of organizing such training programmes frequently. He said fire extinguishers are installed everywhere including Government offices, public places, hospitals or schools. “But very few people are well versed with its use. Such programmes help in learning the safety measures to be taken up during fire fighting or in times of other disaster which can significantly help in saving life and public property,” Balla said.
Among others Secretary SMC Hilal Ahmed Dewani attended the programme.
