DDC inspects upgradation work on sports stadium

Islamabad (Anantnag), Jan 12: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Anantnag, Farooq Ahmad Shah today inspected the ongoing renovation work in the Sports Stadium, Islamabad.
The work on the renovation of the stadium was taken up recently and Rs 1.5 crore have been sanctioned for the purpose. “ It is our endeavor to provide quality sports facilities in the district and we are making every effort in this regard,” said DDC.
He said that many sports stadiums in the district will be developed with highly advanced pavilion and quality seating arrangement. The DDC on the occasion directed the concerned agencies to accomplish the work within the set time frame and also ensure that the quality is maintained.
“ While the work on up gradation of several other sports stadiums in the district is on , we are also working on a proposal to construct a cricket stadium in the town and the land for the purpose will be identified soon,” DDC informed.
The DDC emphasized on the need to channelize the sports talent. “ Though the district has tremendous potential in sports but it needs to be nurtured in a proper way,” said DDC adding the administration will extend every possible help to the budding sports talent of the district. The DDC also announced that an indoor stadium will soon come in the town. “ We have identified the land for the purpose and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be framed soon after which work will begin on it,” said DDC. The DDC also hailed a 22 year old cricketer from Bijbehara, Parvez Rasool for making it to the India A team. “ The boy has made every one of us proud and I whole heartedly extend my congratulations to him”.
He said that the district administration will organize a function where in Parvez will be felicitated.
