Ranbir, Deepika head to Kashmir for film shooting
Karan Johar To Shoot Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani In Valley From Jan 26
MANZOOR-UL-HASSAN
Srinagar, Jan 21: Bollywood’s Barfi boy Ranbir Kapoor and Cocktail beauty Deepika Padukone will be starting their next shooting schedule in Kashmir later this week for Ayan Mukharji’s film ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ is the new-year presentation from Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions and the next directorial film of Ayan Mukerji after making his debut film ‘Wake up Sid’ in 2009 starring Ranbir and Konkana Sen Sharma. “Karan Johar has decided to shoot his next film in Kashmir from January 26 at various locations including Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar after a successful shoot last year for 2012-hit Student of the Year in the Valley,” sources told Greater Kashmir.
They said Bollywood’s heartthrobs Ranbir-Deepika cleared all apprehensions on visiting Kashmir for shooting at some hill resorts. They agreed instantaneously when Karan told them about the shooting locales for the upcoming film, which also star casts Aditya Roy Kapur and an Indian actress of French descent, Kalki Koechlin.
According to sources, the film crew is starting the shooting on January 26 as most of the shooting locations have already been finalized by the director. “Ranbir is flying to Kashmir on January 24 while Deepika will reach in Srinagar day before the shooting schedule,” they said.
Ranbir was very excited about visiting the Valley and shooting here as he had a great experience during the shoot of Rockstar’s, a crew member said.
He said there would be three days shoot at Kongdori in Gulmarg, two days in Pahalgam. “Soon after we will finish with shooting schedule in the tourist destinations we will finalize the days and locations for Srinagar shoot.”
The crew would mostly shoot song sequences in Kashmir along with few scenes.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, the Line Producer for Dharma Production in Kashmir, Khawar Jamsheed confirmed shooting of the film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani in Kashmir.
“We have already finished the shooting locations,” he said.
However, he said, “the crew would announce final dates and locations of shooting in next few days.”
ABOUT THE FILM
Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is a love story. “The line Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is taken from the famous RD Burman song from the 70s hit Jawani Deewani. It will be our second film with Ranbir and Ayan, the team that won awards and accolades for Wake Up Sid. While WUS was a coming of age film, YJHD is quintessentially a romantic one,” Karan Johar told reporters while announcing the film last year.
“Deepika managed to bag this film when so many other actresses out there were actually vying for it,” Karan said. “Ayan, Ranbir and I are convinced she is the best choice for the film.”'
He added: “Deepika and Ranbir were seen together in Bachna Ae Haseeno. But according to me, their celluloid chemistry is yet to be exploited to its fullest.”
The film is said to be a tribute to the cinema of Nasir Hussain, who directed classics such as Dil Deke Dekho. The film will be releasing on May 31, 2013.
