Road widening
This refers to the news item (Greater Kashmir, Jan 18th), regarding the rehabilitation of dislocated shopkeepers of Zarab Khana Zainakadal Srinagar under road widening programme. The stake holders have been waiting for three long years for rehabilitation and the delay has caused sufferings, both economic and psychological for them and their families. It is admirable that the government has now taken serious note of the problem and the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asghar Samoon who happens to be the Chairman HLC (High Level Committee) constituted by the Government for the purpose, has empowered a settlement committee of officers headed by the Collector Srinagar with a direction to speed up the process of rehabilitation of the stake holders. We welcome the decision and expect a speedy action in this regard so that the stake holders are relived of the economic pressures and trauma.
