Uptown areas reel under darkness
RESIDENTS THREATEN PROTEST
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 22: The inhabitants of various uptown areas including Peerbagh, Humhama and Rawalpora accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of resorting to unscheduled power cuts.
The aggrieved inhabitants said that despite being fully metered the PDD is not adhering to the notified schedule. “We receive power supply barely for an hour in a day. This is blatant violation of agreement by the PDD. In harsh winter conditions, we face immense hardships in absence of power. If PDD does not restore power supply according to the schedule, we would be forced to take to streets,” they said.
Meanwhile, the residents of Housing Colony Ompora on city outskirts also complained of erratic power supply and appealed the Chief Engineer PDD to look into the matter.
