3 gamblers, drug peddler held: Police

Srinagar, Jan 23: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three gamblers and a drug peddler in various areas of Shaher-e-Khaas.
Police said three gamblers were arrested during a raid at Noorbagh area. Superintendent of north City Tahir Saleem Khan said acting on a specific tip-off, police raid at Pamposh Colony Noorbagh where a card game was going on.
“We recovered stake money of Rs 4700 and two sets of playing cards from their possession,” the SP said.
The SP said an FIR No: 11/2013 under section 13 Gambling Act has been registered in police station Safakadal.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug peddler at Pandan Nowhatta area here.
“A police party from Nowhatta police station caught red handed a notorious drug peddler when he was in possession of some narcotic substance. The accused drug peddler has been sent to Central Jail Kupwara for 15 days on the orders of concerned magistrate, the SP said.
