Tourism Day celebrated

Srinagar, Jan 27: J&K Tourism Department in association with Space Communication organized an event on ‘India Tourism Day’ at SKICC. The event was aimed to highlight the importance of aviation industry in connecting Kashmir.
Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir on the occasion said that the people associated with the aviation industry are the first to greet the tourists and they must act as brand ambassadors to promote Kashmir tourism industry.
“Even in tough times the people from aviation industry received tourists with smiling faces, they should continue to do so,” the minister said.
Director Tourism, Kashmir, Talat Parvez on the occasion said, “Tourism is playing a major role in contributing to the over all growth of Kashmir by creating direct and indirect jobs.”
At the function awards were distributed among the people who have returned cash and other valuables to the tourists who missed or forgot them during their stay in Kashmir.
Among others present at the event were Director, Airport Authority of India, Srinagar Airport, Director Space Communication, managers of private airlines and tourism players.
Pertinently, India Tourism day is celebrated on January 25. It is aimed at increasing awareness about tourism through a range of activities throughout India.
