Versatile Gojri, Dogri folk singer G M Dansalia passes away
Jammu, Jan 27: Versatile Gojri and Dogri folk singer Ghulam Muhammad Dansalia passed away on Sunday at his native village Dansal. He was 84.
He is survived by three sons, four daughters and wife. Dainslia was awarded by Sangeet Natak Akademi, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, state government and other institutions including Tribal Foundation for his extra ordinary contribution to Gojri folk and Dogri devotional Music.
He was also ‘Dogra Ratan’ by the Governor for his contributions to promote Dogri Language, Art and literature. He also participated in the Rashtriya Chetna yatra led by Prof Bhim Singh from Kargil to Kanya Kumari in 1999.
Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, has condoled demise of noted folk singer. In a message, Khalid said in his death, Jammu & Kashmir has lost an outstanding performing artist and the Dogri music one of its iconic singers.
