Kichloo reviews SMC’s functioning
Srinagar, Jan 29: Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo visited the Central Office of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) here and reviewed its functioning.
On the occasion, Kichloo took a review of various works undertaken by SMC for improving sanitation, solid waste management, user charges and food safety.
Commissioner SMC Dr GN Qasba in his power point presentation apprised the Minister about various measures taken up by the corporation to make Srinagar green and clean.
Dr Qasba daily 300 metric tons of garbage is being lifted in systematic manner in the City. He said SMC has started segregation of solid waste from source level and in this regard issuance of color coded twin bins shall be distributed free of cost among 10,000 households in 10 administrative wards.
The Minister was informed that the Central Citizen Facilitation Centre has started delivering services of building permissions and birth and death registration in online mode.
Superintending Engineer Fida Hussain apprised the Minister about various ongoing drainage schemes in the City.
Later Kichloo directed the concerned division to speed up with work and assured assistance for it.
An spokesperson of SMC said the Minister appreciated Commissioner SMC Dr Qasba along with this entire team of Officers for significant achievements and efficient performances in delivering services to the public.
He also appreciated Dr Qasba for organizing various rallies including anti-polythene drives, sanitation drives including on Sundays and nights under the campaign ‘Clean Srinagar Green Srinagar’ to create massive awareness among the masses, schools, colleges.
Kichloo also inspected the ongoing work in the workshop, where the Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Itrat Naseem updated him about the newly introduced hopper and compact vehicle bins for improvisation and up gradation of sanitation in the city.
