Anantnag: PAC reviews developmental activities
Anantnag (Islamabad), Jan 30: The Public Accounts Committee of the Legislative Assembly Wednesday reviewed the development activities carried out by different departments in district Anantnag (Islamabad).
An official spokesman said the meeting was chaired by MLA Rafi Ahmad Mir along with other members of the Committee. “It was told in the meeting that the works taken under MGNREGA in different blocks are being executed efficiently by taking Panchayat Raj Institutions into confidence,” he said. “The PAC reviewed all the schemes executed by Rural Development Department like IAY, Haryali and NBA very minutely.”
The spokesman said the Director Rural Development Department assured PAC that all the targets set under different schemes shall be achieved well before the end of current financial year. “Director SSA informed the Committee that State Government has released first installment of Rs. 130 crores while second installment of central assistance is still pending which has hampered the payment of salary to the teaching staff,” the spokesman said. “With regard to the opening of new and up-gradation of schools the Government of India has now taken help of Remote Sensing Department for satellite mapping of the feasible habitations for the opening of new schools.”
The spokesman said the Director RMSA apprised the Committee about the progress made under the scheme in the district as school building constructions have been referred to the concerned agencies for construction. “The Committee was also informed that the water supply schemes at Wupzon, Gardahangipora and Bannderpora and Thegriwara will be completed in March, 2013. As many as 74 schemes for which Rs. 6 crores have been released are in progress way in the district and will be completed in the near future,” the spokesman added.
The District Development Commissioner. Farooq Ahmad Shah presented an overview of the developmental activities in the district and the progress made in education and health sectors.
He said 120 bedded block of new District Hospital will be inaugurated in March 2013. He said 71 percent of the district plan has been utilized till date.
