Legal Metrology deptt books erring traders

Srinagar,Jan 6: The field executives of Legal Metrology department conducted surprise inspection of different markets of Srinagar and booked various erring traders.
In a statement a spokesman of the Legal Metrology department said inspector, circle-3 Manzoor Ahmad booked two wholesale dealers for selling underweight rice/wheat brans of Jammu based mills. “The mill owners were served the notice through the dealers and one of the challan cases got compounded for Rs 10,000. The packages of rice (Pamposh brand) were found short by 500gm. In another instance, a whole-sale dealer was booked for supplying consumers under-weight and non-labeled wheat brans of non-standard size of 17 Kg,” he said.
