Toilets on roadside at Khidmat lane irk inhabitants
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 7: Inhabitants of Khidmat lane in Lal Chowk have expressed strong resentment over construction of toilet block near residential houses in the locality.
They said the toilets were constructed by some people in connivance with SMC officials. “The pungent smell from these toilets has made our lives miserable. During night and evening hours, the toilets are mostly thronged by drunkards and drug addicts hampering our smooth movement,” they said.
The inhabitants said they had many times appealed the concerned authorities to demolish the toilet block as it has become nuisance for them.
“However, the concerned authorities are acting as mute spectators,” they said.
The inhabitants also said presence of high-tension wires close to their houses poses risk to them. “The high-tension wires and HT-transformer were installed close to residential houses. We urge the PDD authorities to shift the HT-wires and transformer away from the residential houses in the locality to avoid mishaps,” they said
