DeM senior activist arrested at SKIMS Soura
'Aasiya Forcibly Shifted To Home'
Srinagar, Mar 9: Police on Saturday cordoned the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura and arrested senior activist of Duktaran-i-Milat (DeM) Fahmeeda Sofi.
Reports said Fahmeeda Sofi was attending DeM chairperson Aasiya Andrabi who was recently operated at SKIMS Soura. “A police party from Soura police station and Rambagh women’s police station raided the hospital and arrested Fahmeeda,” a local news agency CNS said.
Meanwhile, the DeM has strongly condemned, what it said, the crackdown launched by the police against it.
“The government is getting our youth killed and detaining the people’s sincere leaderships in jails. The police got the critically ailing DeM chief Aasiya Andrabi forcibly shifted from hospital to her house. She had undergone a surgery just two days before and was discharged from the hospital even before her stitches were removed,” said a spokesperson of DeM in a statement today, strongly condemning the arrest of Fahmeeda.
“Fahmeeda, who was looking after Aasiya Andrabi like her daughter, has been arrested and lodged in Police station, Rambagh, here,” said the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the party has strongly condemned the police action in which an expecting mother and baby were injured at Sopore in north Kashmir.
