Hurriyat (M) condemns Mirwaiz’s house arrest
Srinagar, Mar 9: The Hurriyat Conference (M) has expressed serious concern over the continued house arrest of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior leaders and hundreds of youth by the authorities.
“Senior Hurriyat leaders like Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Khan, Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza are still in the police lockups while another Hurriyat leader G N Zaki has been shifted to sub district jail, Baramulla,” said a spokesman of the Hurriyat in a statement today, clarifying that such ‘oppressive measures’ would in no way deter people and amalgam leadership from pursuing the cause of freedom struggle.
“This repression in no way would weaken the freedom movement. In fact it would strengthen the resolve of Kashmiris to fight for their birth right,” said the spokesman, strongly condemning the use of wanton force on women and children by the police and other armed forces.
