Killing of B'la youth
Govt yet to start probe
Srinagar, Mar 9: Authorities in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are yet to start probe into the killing of a youth Tahir Ahmed Sofi who was killed on Tuesday allegedly in firing by Army.
“We are busy in maintaining law and order and once we are free, investigation will be started accordingly,” Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Manzoor Ahmed Qadri who has been appointed as investigating officer said.
“We have not consulted Army yet and the probe will hopefully start from Monday. We will soon record statements of witnesses in this regard,” the ADC said.
Pertinently, 25-year old, Tahir Ahmed Sofi was killed when Army allegedly fired at protestors to disperse them. Army maintains that it has already started Court of Inquiry (CoI) into the killing and asked Jammu and Kashmir Police to identify civilian witnesses in the case.
District Development Commissioner, Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja said, “Army has conducted a separate inquiry and we will probe the incident ourselves,” he said. (CNS)
