Schools to open on Monday

Srinagar, Mar 9: Putting speculations on extension of winter vacations to rest, the State Government Saturday said all schools across Kashmir region will open on Monday.
Taking to Greater Kashmir, Commissioner/Secretary, School Education, Farooq Ahmed Faktoo confirmed that schools will open on Monday. “Winter vacations are over, so schools will open on Monday. Last time we postponed opening of schools due to bad weather,” Faktoo said. “But this time we are not going to extend winter vacations.”
However parents have expressed apprehension over the safety of their children in view of the prevailing situation in the Valley. “It is a risky situation for our children to go to school in these conditions. We are scared of sending our wards to school at a time when the situation can take ugly turn anytime. Authorities should take our concerns into consideration,” they said.
“Government has announced that school uniforms may be treated as curfew passes but recent beating of medicos by forces makes us apprehensive about safety of our wards,” said a group of parents.
Meanwhile Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon has directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure reopening of schools from Monday.
