Tree plantation drive at Old Air Field

Srinagar, Mar 9: A tree plantation drive was kick started at the Old Air Field Military Station by the Army today.
 Christened as “Green Kashmir” the event was launched by Lt Gen Om Prakash, GOC Chinar Corps from the privets of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre.
 A defence PRO statement said that “Green Kashmir” is an environmental initiative of the Army duly supported with technical advice from the forest officials and caters to the environmental, social and hydrographic nuances of afforestation. 
 “The troops of the Old Airfield Military Station alongwith their families and children planted 2900 saplings of ornamental and fruit bearing trees like walnut, peach, apricot, apple, almond and Cyprus,” he said in the statement.
