Islamia College lifts trophy
8TH YOUSUF MEMORIAL CRICKET CUP CONCLUDES
Srinagar, Sep 5: Hosts Islamia College lifted the 8th Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup title defeating Gandhi Memorial College in the final played at Islamia College ground here on Thursday.
Batting first Islamia College scored 203 runs in allotted 30 overs. Usmaan Pandit contributed with 78 and Umair Altaf scored 39 for them. For Gandhi Memorial College, Abid Nabi and Gowher Nabi two wickets each.
Chasing a stiff target of 204 runs, Gandhi Memorial College were bundled out for 114 runs in 24.4 overs. For Gandhi College, Jasbir scored 33 while as for Islamia College Danish claimed four wickets and Usmaan Pandit three.
With this win Islamia College lifted the title. Usmaan Pandit from Islamia College was adjudged as man of the match and man of the tournament for scoring 233 runs and taking wickets.
Additional District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Shahbaz Sahib was the chief guest on the while as Dr. Nighat Yousuf D/O Late Prof. Muhammad Yousuf was the guest of honour.
Later they distributed prizes and mementos among winners. On the occasion Dr. Nighat Yousuf gave away cash awards to both the teams and the man of the tournament out of her own pocket.
