The school education department has decided to suspend teachers/heads of the schools which have shown poor result in 8th and 9th class annual examinations. The exams were held in October this year by the State Institute of Education (SIE) Kashmir.

As per a circular issued by director school education Kashmir GN Itoo on Tuesday, the department has decided to suspend the headmasters and the subject in-charge teachers of the poorly performing schools. 

The DSEK has instructed the CEOs to submit action-taken report to the directorate in this regard.

“The in-charge heads of schools with zero percent result and teachers having below twenty percent result in their subjects should be placed under suspension,” reads the DSEK circular. 

As per the circular the department will stop the yearly increment of the teachers who have produced below 50 percent results in their subjects.

Around 81243 out of 87523 students who appeared in class 8th exams were declared as qualified with a pass percentage of 93.77 percent.

Also, 40365 out of 48774 students of class 9th qualified the annual exams with pass percentage of 82.78 percent.

As already reported by Greater Kashmir, 12 schools had zero percent result; while as 49 schools had below 50 percent result in class 8th exams. Similarly, 19 government schools had below 50 percent result in class 9th examinations.

The director school education has also directed the CEOs concerned to start remedial classes for students who have not qualified the class 8th and 9th exams.

“Services of the same teachers having poor results should be utilized for holding remedial classes till the results improve in the schools,” reads the circular.

After holding remedial classes of these students, the department will hold separate examination for them before the opening of schools post winter vacations.

As per the figures, Anantnag district has four schools with zero percent results while as one school has below 20 percent result and nine schools have below 50 percent result in class 8th exams. 

Two schools in Bandipora and three schools each in Budgam and Srinagar district have below 50 percent result

Baramulla district has below 50 percent result in four schools and zero percent in one school. 

In Kulgam district two schools have zero percent result while as 18 schools have produced below fifty percent results.

Also, seven government schools have below 50 percent result while as one school has zero percent in Kupwara district and four schools have zero percent result and three have below 50 percent result in Pulwama district in class 8th exams.
