Srinagar, Aug 08: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office, successfully organised an orientation programme at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Kashmir.

The event aimed to enlighten students and faculty about the critical importance of standardization, quality assurance, and conformity assessment in various sectors.

   

Tilak Raj, Director and Head of BIS-JKBO, delivered the welcome address, offering valuable insights into the significance of standardization in ensuring quality and safety.

Prof. A.H. Moon, Dean Academic at IUST, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the NABL-accredited Spices Lab of the Food Technology Department at IUST.

Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer at BIS-JKBO, highlighted the importance of Standard Clubs and the BIS Care App in promoting awareness and adherence to standards.

The programme was well-received, with over 100 students actively participating. The event sparked a keen interest in BIS’s pivotal role in fostering quality and safety across industries.
