4 houses gutted in Dalal Mohalla blaze

Srinagar, Mar 13: At least four houses were gutted in a fire incident at Dalal Mohalla near Guzar Masjid area of Fateh Kadal in Downtown.

Officials of Fire and Emergency Services said they received information about the fire at 12:40 am. They said that 24 Fire and Emergency units were deployed to control the massive fire that was spreading fast.

   

“We pressed 12 fire tenders from Headquarters, Gaw kadal, SH Pora, Rainawari, to douse off the flames. After hours of tireless efforts, the teams were able to control the fire and keep it from spreading to other areas. However, unfortunately, four houses were severely damaged,” said the official.

Meanwhile, the fire victims said that they had been left without shelter during the holy month of Ramadhan and appealed to the authorities for necessary help.

“We lost all our belongings, and we are left to fend for ourselves. Most of us are poor. We want the government to provide all necessary help. Many victims are facing ailments and have families to support. Unless proper assistance is provided, we will have to stay on the roads,” said a victim.

Meanwhile, a vehicle accessories shop was damaged in a fire incident at Rawalpora area today. They said that the fire broke out in the shop and fire tenders controlled the fire in time. An official said that the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
