Urs of Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA) observed with religious fervour

Srinagar, June 13: Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdan and Amir-e-Kabir, was observed with religious fervour on Thursday across Kashmir.

People across various districts of Kashmir gathered in Shrines and masjids and held religious gatherings during the occasion. The largest congregation was held at Khanqah-e-Moula in Downtown Srinagar.

   

Every year, special congregational prayers and Zikr-o-Azkaar gatherings are held at the Shines and other religious places in Kashmir.

The annual Urs of Shah-e-Hamdan is observed on the 6th Zil-Hijjah of the Islamic calendar.

“We visit this shrine on the occasion of Urs every year. We have great faith in the saint who brought Islam here. It is a peaceful atmosphere when we participate in large gatherings and pray for everyone’s prosperity,” said Abdul Aziz, a devotee from Budgam.

During the Urs, devotees prayed for peace and prosperity in Kashmir and sought blessings from Allah. In their sermons, the scholars highlighted Mir Syed Ali Hamdani’s (RA) contribution to the spread of Islam in Kashmir. The largest gathering at the shrine was witnessed during Zuhr prayers when thousands of people gathered to offer congregational prayers. The markets around the Shrine in Downtown were full of hustle and bustle. Devotees were seen indulging in shopping and spending time in the Khanqah-e-Moula Srinagar with their families.

Meanwhile, the Urs of Shah Hamdan (RA) was also observed with religious fervor at Khankah Faizpanah Tral, Jinab Sahab Soura, Aasar Sharif Kalashpora, Kabamarg, and Khiram Sirhama in Anantnag, Dooru Seer Hamdan, Aham Sharif Bandipora, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama and Bandipora. The Urs was also observed at Khanqah Moula Sopore.
