Anantnag, June 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said that the Amarnath Yatris were the brand ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reviewing the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra at a high-level meeting at Pahalgam, LG Sinha said, “Yatris are the brand ambassadors of J&K. Greater synergy between all stakeholder departments, Police, security forces, and service providers will ensure best arrangements for the hassle-free yatra.”
He discussed the deployment of Police and security personnel, doctors and nursing staff, duty officers, relief and rescue teams, and sanitation staff on the yatra routes.
The LG directed for deputing dedicated officers who would look after the effective functioning of the facilities developed by their respective departments.
The meeting was informed that substantial improvements have been made in terms of facilities for the safe and smooth yatra.
LG Sinha emphasised providing smooth arrangements on the route of yatra, adequate stock of oxygen cylinders and deployment of ambulances and helicopters for any medical emergency.
He also took appraisal of track, lodging, electricity, water, communication, health, fire and emergency services.
Later, the LG took stock of the facilities in place for the yatris at the Nunwan base camp at Pahalgam.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) Mandeep Kumar Bhandari; Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi; Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department, Bhupinder Kumar; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid also attended the meeting.
He also visited the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu and inspected the arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra.
LG Sinha also met and interacted with the yatris.
Subsequently, he chaired a meeting with officials and reviewed the measures taken to facilitate the comfortable stay of the yatris.
The chair was briefed on the extensive arrangements made for the smooth pilgrimage of the devotees.
The LG directed the stakeholder departments to deploy adequate manpower to cater to the heavy rush of the yatris.
He also interacted with the service providers and took appraisals of the facilities including logistics, lodging, food, health, transportation, RFID counters, and other amenities.
The Amarnath Yatra will commence on June 29.
Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain; Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Headquarters, M K Sinha; ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and DC Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya accompanied the LG.
