Srinagar, Mar 7:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said Congress and its allies misled the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the name of Article 370.

“For decades, the Congress and its allies misled the people of J&K and the country for political gains in the name of Article 370. The people of J&K are now aware of the truth about whether J&K benefited from Article 370 or only a few families took advantage of it. The talent of J&K is getting its due respect today as there is no Article 370 now,” the PM said.

The Centre-led by PM Modi abrogated the provisions of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and bifurcated the erstwhile state into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The PM did not name any regional political party and said that politics and corruption had gone hand in hand in J&K for a very long time.

Praising the huge crowd that had gathered to listen to him, he said, “I am elated and indebted for the love given to me in Kashmir.”

He said that he would return the debt of this love and leave no stone unturned in this direction.
