Delhi trekker dies on Gangbal trek

Ganderbal, Aug 30: A 44-year-old trekker from Delhi who was part of a 15-member trekking group to Gangbal died, apparently due to extreme weather conditions along the route near Satsar.

The upper reaches including the Gangbal route in Ganderbal district witnessed extreme weather conditions and snowfall on Friday.

   

Upon receiving reports of his death, a Police team from Police Station Kangan and the Army rushed to the area.

Police said that they recovered the body of the trekker at Naranag.

It said that the trekker had complained of discomfort earlier and due to the adverse weather, his health deteriorated and he passed away.

Police said that the trekker was brought to Trauma Hospital Kangan for medico-legal formalities.

It identified the trekker as Rohit Syal of Delhi.
