Kupwara, July 15: Army on Monday termed the killing of three infiltrating terrorists in the Keran sector a big success.

Addressing a news conference at Peer Ki Gali in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Commander 268 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier N R Kulkarni said that with the close synergy between security forces, they were able to kill the three heavily armed infiltrators in the Keran sector and averted a possible attack on Amarnath Yatra.

Brigadier Kulkarni, who was flanked by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara, Shobhit Saxena, Commanding Officer 19 Sikh, Colonel Jaspreet Singh, and Commanding Officer 160 TA, Colonel Harpreet Singh, said that following credible inputs about infiltration, multiple ambushes were laid on Saturday night along the possible routes of infiltration.

“On Sunday, the ambush teams observed movement of three terrorists to this side following which they were challenged, ensuing an intense gunfight which led to the elimination of three hardcore foreign terrorists and recovery of war-like stores,” he said.

Brigadier Kulkarni said that this successful operation was yet another example of close synergy between the security forces including the Army, paramilitary Border Security Forces (BSF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
