PM Modi reviews J&K security situation

Srinagar, June 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the backdrop of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region and directed the officials to deploy a full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities.

Chairing the review meeting on the security situation in J&K in the wake of multiple terror attacks in the last four days, the PM directed the officials to deploy and utilise the full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities.

   

Besides the review meeting, he also spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed the deployment of security forces and how the forces were executing counter-terror operations.

PM Modi also spoke to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and took stock of the ground situation.

The topmost security officials including National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval attended the security review meeting and gave the PM a full overview of the security-related situation in J&K.

PM Modi was apprised of the counter-terror measures undertaken by the security forces.

He was also briefed about the Army’s strategies and operations for neutralising the terrorists.

Nine yatris were killed on Sunday after their bus was attacked by terrorists in the Reasi district.

The bus went out of the driver’s control and rolled into a deep gorge after terrorists fired at the driver.

On Tuesday, a CRPF man and two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Kathua district after terrorists opened fire at passersby in Saida Sukhal village in Hiranagar.

Six security personnel were killed after terrorists attacked a check post in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah.

A policeman was injured in another encounter that broke out in the Gandoh area of Bhaderwah Wednesday night.
