New Delhi, June 3: The Election Commission of India (ECI) Monday said it was ready to hold assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir that recorded the highest voter turnout in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in the last four decades.

Addressing a news conference in New Delhi to give an overview of the marathon seven-phase 2024 general elections that concluded on June 1, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said the commission was ready to hold assembly polls in J&K.

He said that J&K recorded the highest voter turnout in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in the last four decades with 58.58 overall percentage while Kashmir recorded a 51.05 percent turnout.
