Ganderbal, Dec 23: The higher reaches of Kashmir and Ladakh on Saturday witnessed light snowfall which led to the closure of the Srinagar-Leh National Highway.
The Zojila Pass along the Srinagar-Leh National Highway witnessed light snowfall while Sonamarg health resort witnessed light to moderate snowfall.
About 2 to 3 inches of snow accumulated at Zojila Pass, draping the scenic destination in white.
Due to fresh snowfall, the traffic movement on Zojila Pass was suspended given the accumulated snow and slippery road conditions.
Officials said that the traffic would be allowed after clearance from the Border Roads Organisation.
Meanwhile, an official of the Meteorological Department, Leh centre, said that light snowfall occurred at some places in Kargil, Zanskar, and Minamarg.
