Ganderbal, Mar 31: The Srinagar-Leh National Highway remained closed for the movement of traffic for the second consecutive day on Sunday.
The highway was closed to traffic due to fresh snowfall in the higher reaches including Zojila Pass on Saturday.
Approximately 3 to 4 inches of snow accumulated at Zojila Pass on the highway, prompting a precautionary halt to traffic movement.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) deployed its machinery for snow clearance.
A BRO’s Project Beacon official said that the machines were actively working to clear the snow from the road.
Hundreds of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) including passenger vehicles have been stranded on both sides of the highway since Saturday.
An official said that after getting a green signal from the BRO, the road would reopen for one-way traffic on Monday.
