3 tourists die in Zojila accident

Ganderbal, July 16: Three tourists died and a minor was injured when a vehicle they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge on the Zojia Pass on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway on Tuesday.

Police said that the accident occurred at Panimatha near Captain Morh on the Zojila Pass when a cab (JK13B 9912) on the way from Sonamarg to Zero Point, Zojila fell into a deep gorge resulting in on the spot death of three tourists including two women while a child was critically injured.

   

“The critically injured child, after being given first aid at the nearby health facility, was shifted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS), Soura, in Srinagar for special treatment,” they said.

Police said that the driver of the vehicle survived the accident. They said that the family of the four persons from Bengaluru, Karnataka, was on a visit to Sonamarg.
