Sopore, July 29: Four youth died in a mysterious blast in the Shair Colony area of Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.

A mysterious blast occurred at Shair Colony, Sopore, when the four youth were sorting scrap material on a lawn.

   

The blast left three youth dead while the fourth youth sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore where he was referred to SMHS Srinagar for specialised treatment.

However, he died on the way to Srinagar.

They were identified as Nazir Ahmad Nadroo, 34; Azim Ashraf Mir, 21, son of Muhammad Ashraf; Aadil Rashid Bhat, 21, son of Abdul Rashid, and Muhammad Azhar Fafoo, 19, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, all residents of Shair Colony, Sopore.

All four youth were in the scrap business and had recently bought scrap from Ladakh.

They were sorting out the scrap when this mysterious blast occurred on the lawn of one of the houses of the four youth.

Meanwhile, top Police officials in Sopore said that their bodies had been sent to SDH Sopore for postmortem and after medico-legal formalities would be handed over to their families for last rites.

“We have called a team from the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) to clear the residue and other surrounding scrap materials on the spot where the blast occurred,” the Police officials said.
