Chief Secretary visits Amarnath Cave shrine, takes stock of amenities for yatris

Pahalgam, June 30: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo Sunday visited the Amarnath Cave shrine to take stock of services being provided to the yatris visiting the cave shrine.

The chief secretary visited and reviewed the facilities at the cave shrine and the Amarnath Yatra Tatkal Registration Camp established at the Pahalgam Convention Centre and Nunwan base camp.

   

At Nunwan base camp, Dulloo took a round of the camp and had a comprehensive overview of all the arrangements by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid and the Camp Director Nunwan, Vikas Gupta who were accompanying him.

He assessed all the facilities being extended to yatris, especially medicare, sanitation, drinking water, langar facilities, accommodation, and transportation besides other utilities.

The chief secretary appreciated the facilities put in place by the district administration, different departments, and the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).

He directed the officers to ensure that yatris should be facilitated at all the camps and along the yatra route.

Dulloo instructed that health facilities should cater to all yatris, especially given the high altitude illnesses.

He enquired about the amenities created enroute and the locations of such facilities.

The chief secretary also reviewed the NDRF and SDRF teams kept available on both axes.

He asked about the status of communication, water, power, and ration availability for the langars.

Dulloo also impressed upon the local administration to monitor such facilities for their uninterrupted availability for the smooth conduct of the yatra.

The Yatra commenced on June 29 on both the Pahalgam and Baltal axis and a large number of yatris have come for yatra during these initial days of the yatra slated to continue till 19th of August, 2024.

He was also accompanied by Nodal Officer Pahalgam Axis, Bhupinder Kumar; Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Sujit Kumar; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, G V Sundeep Chakravarthy; Director Health Mushtaq Ahmad Rather and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag.
