DySP Humayun Bhat among four awarded Kirti Chakra on Independence Day

Srinagar, Aug 14: Three security personnel, including DySP of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Humayun Bhat, have been awarded Kirti Chakra on the eve of Independence Day.

Kirti Chakra is the second highest peacetime gallantry award.

   

Three of the four awardees are getting the Kirti Chakra posthumously. The recipients include Colonel Manpreet Singh, Rifleman Ravi Kumar & DSP Humayun Bhat who are getting the award posthumously, reported news agency ANI.

The fourth Kirti Chakra is awarded to Major Malla Rama Gopal Naidu.

Bhat, Colonel Singh and Rifleman Ravi Kumar were killed in an encounter with militants in southern Anantnag district in September last year.
