Encounter breaks out in forest area near Patnitop in Jammu

Brief encounter ends in Rajouri

Srinagar, August 13: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Monday in a forest area near the tourist resort of Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir, army said.

“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by army and police was launched in Akar Forest near Patnitop,” said an army spokesman.

   

He said that contact has been established with the terrorists and operations are in progress.

There was no immediate report of any casualties on the either side.

On Saturday, two soldiers and a civilian were killed in a gunfight in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag. The search operation is underway in the area.
