LG launches DIPR’s new portal

Jammu, Nov 30: Launching the new portal of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said that the new features of the portal would reduce the time taken for disseminating accurate information.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that the LG commended the endeavour of the Information Department to disseminate information to the media on the administration’s policies, programmes, and new initiatives.

   

“Several new features for different modes of communication including press releases, fact sheets, photographs, and infographics will streamline existing mechanisms and reduce the time taken for dissemination of accurate and correct information,” he said.

Sinha also bid farewell to the outgoing Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta and applauded his sincerity, dedication, and commitment to discharge his responsibilities without fear or favour.
“I wish him a long, happy, and healthy life ahead,” he said.

The LG expressed gratitude to the Haryana Government for its support and cooperation in developing the new portal.
Commissioner Secretary to Government, Information Department, Prerna Puri highlighted the key features of the portal.

She said that the new ‘Subscribe to Press Release’ feature also enables the general public to subscribe to press releases and get notified on their mobile phones.

Puri said that the integration of the rebuttal mechanism would help counter fake and false news on a real-time basis.

Outgoing Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta was also present on the occasion while Principal Secretary, Citizen Resources Information Department, Government of Haryana, V Umashankar also joined through video conference.
