In today's 'Is Anybody listening' post, highways and roads in a shambles, and other stories

Kupwara-Sopore National Highway in shambles

The National Highway connecting the two districts of north Kashmir – Kupwara and Baramulla (Sopore) – NH-701 has developed many potholes. Travel of half an hour takes more than 2 hours as the highway is in shambles, particularly in the Kulangam-Seelu stretch.

Moreover, the highway has got some unnecessary speed breakers while some portion of the road has been dug up, causing inconveniences to surgically-operated patients.

We request the concerned authorities and agencies to kindly repair the road and macadamise it on a humanitarian basis so that the people at large do not suffer anymore.

Hazuribagh Bagh, Colonel Colony Road in deplorable condition

I would like to bring the deplorable state of Hazuribagh Bagh and Colonel Colony Road to the attention of the authorities.

The road has many manholes whose level is 1 foot below the road level posing a threat to the commuters. Many times, accidents have occurred on the road due to potholes. These are jeopardising the lives of the two-wheeler riders as well as four-wheeler drivers.

The absence of proper streetlights near Royal Apartments Society has become a nuisance for the residents.

Womenfolk are scared to go out after 6 pm as some miscreants have been seen moving in the area, taking advantage of the dark.

The residents requested the authorities to pay attention to the area in this regard but no action has been taken to date.

Recruitment link not working

We the aspirants for different posts request the High Court authorities to kindly make the new recruitment link functional for the posts advertised vide Notification No 02 of 2024 dated May 9, 2024, as the old link got disabled and has been non-functional only after a few days of form submission.

The old link is still available on the High Court’s website and on clicking it displays ‘We are updating the new recruitment portal’.

However, interestingly, the last date is over and no extension or any other notice has been issued yet, creating apprehensions among the job aspirants.
