Srinagar, Aug 16: CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami has demanded increase in salaries of contractual lecturers.

He posted on X, “Contractual lecturers working in different colleges across J&K find themselves in a financial bind due to significantly lower salaries compared to Ladakh and other states.

While Ladakh recently enhanced salaries from Rs 40,000 to Rs 57,000, J&K pays Rs28,000 for PhD/NET holders and a paltry remuneration of RS 18,000 for non-NET lecturers, with only 8-9 months of engagement. Requesting the @OfficeOfLGJandK to align their salaries with Ladakh or other states.”
